Let’s Talk About Dance Music

Paul was recently interviewed by DJ Ron Slomowicz the Dance Music / Electronica section on About.com. Here’s a clip:

“Whats on Your Mind (Pure Energy)” and “Running” are just some of the dance floor classics by the seminal synth-pop band Information Society, back for 2007 with a new release paying homage to their roots – the Synthesizer. Producer Paul Robb spoke with us about everything from freestyle and changing lineups to free software and the internet. Paul is the kind of witty guy you want to chat with for hours at a pub and new tracks like “Baby Just Once” and “Back In The Day” would be the perfect soundtrack.

Glad to finally see some form of gear list. From the looks of it Dominator is a 3 osc subtractive VA, have you looked into Rob Papen’s Albino or Predator? Amazing vsts along the same lines. DiscoDSP, Synth1 (freeware), Oatmeal (freeware), even Novation V-Station, all good things.

I’m not of the 50% who think you sound like old material nor the 50% who say there’s too much new… I think your new album is perfect!

Cool interview… yeah, iTunes sucks. Go minidisc! :P

Synthesizer ROCKS! An excellent mix of old and new. It’s like a breath of fresh air. I want more! I’m a longtime fan – bought my first INSOC album on cassette in the mid 80′s, before it could be purchased on CD, and I’ve bought every album since. Great music! I’m highly recommending it to my friends.

I am a fan of their 80s stuff and was worried about what the new release would sound like.I purchased the new cd “Synthesizer” online as limited release, and I love it. I wish I could make it up to Philly for the Jan 5th show.
